When I received this IKEA hack from Kappy, I had no idea what a Noggle was, let alone Nouns NFTs. Some googling later, I learned a little about Nouns. I thought I’ll add an introduction to Kappy’s hack — a Noggle (Nouns Glasses) shelf — as many, like me, may have no idea what Noggles are. But before we get to the Noggle, we need to know the Nouns NFT.
It’s a collection of Non-fungible tokens (NFTs), each associated with a specific noun. Each Noun NFT is a one-of-a-kind digital asset that represents a specific word in the English language. The project aims to create a comprehensive collection of Noun NFTs that can be used in various applications, such as gaming, virtual reality, and digital art. But much more than that, funds collected from Nouns Auctions are used to build and support public goods, and fund projects and charities. As of writing, it has over 29,000 ETH (about $54 million) in its treasury.

Now moving on to the Noggles. The “Noggle” is a term for the square glasses you see on Nouns NFTs. According to Urban Dictionary, “It’s a play on the word “Goggles” but substituting the “G” with an “N.”
So, got it? Let’s get on to Kappy’s IKEA hack. He recreates the virtual into the physical. Here’s his finished Noggle shelf hack.

IKEA items used:
- KALLAX cube x 2
- STUBBARP x 1
- BILLY shelf (14”x10”)
- LACK shelf x 2 (11 ¾” x 10 ¼”)
Other materials and tools:
- Phillips Head Screwdriver
- Flat Head Screwdriver
- Level
- Jig Saw
- Drill
- Drill Bit
- Tape Measure
Noggles (Nouns Glasses) Shelf Hack:
Step 1
Assembly two KALLAX cubes following IKEA instructions. Add on the required wall mounts.
Step 2

Once the KALLAX shelf is assembled, drill a ⅜” hole 11” from the side and 11” from the bottom. Do not drill through the cabinet. Drill only 1” hole.
Step 3

Assembly one STUBBARP leg to create the “bridge” of the Noggle (Glasses) by attaching it to the hole previously drilled in the KALLAX shelf. Screw the STUBBARP leg into the hole until the screw reaches the inside wall of the shelf. Do not penetrate through the frame.
Step 4

Cut the BILLY board to a length of 13 ⅛”. The cut BILLY shelf board will be used for the eyes of the Noggles. (Glasses) Level and mark the wall based on where you would like to hang the Noggle Shelf.
Step 5

Here you’ll be aligning the right Noggle when looking at the wall. Attach a screw to the wall for mounting. Attach the right Noggle to the wall based on your alignment
Step 6

Align the Left Noggle to the wall, and mark based on where you placed your right Noggle. Attach a screw to the wall for mounting. Attach the Left Noggle to the wall.
Step 7

Align and attach the first LACK shelf as the upper Noggle arm as seen in the diagram.
Step 8

Align and attach the second LACK shelf to the side of the Noggle arm as seen in the diagram
Step 9

Insert the cut BILLY shelves into the center of the KALLAX cubes, shifting them whichever way you want your Noggles looking ⌐◨-◨
Step 10: Nouns Glasses Noggles complete

Enjoy your Noggle Shelf! See my Google doc for the project.
